A Fragment of Truth.
An on going landscape detail collection.
After studying the work of American photographers Eliot Porter and Edward Weston, and reflecting on the incredible images of New Zealand landscape photographers, Craig Potton and Andris Apes for a number of years now and enjoying the calm meditative style of this work I began to wonder about concentrating the wider view down and looking at the natural world in segmented detail. Taking a fragment of what we have come to expect from Aotearoa’s highly pictorial frame, removing context and scale, distilling it into the very essence of its kōrero pono or truth.
